ost in space MACHT EUCH AUF DIE SOCKEN / Timeless Movement in Socks
Schaufensterausstellung und Künstleringespräch mit der Klangkünstlerin Anna Schimkat im Rahmen von ost in space und in Kooperation mit der POCHEN Biennale.
Im Rahmen des Projektes ost in space wird die Künstlerin Anna Schimkat in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Heimatkundlichen Verein Thalheim ihre klangkünstlerische Forschungsarbeit "MACHT EUCH AUF DIE SOCKEN / Timeless Movement in Socks" als eine Schaufensterausstellung in Thalheim entwickeln. Darin setzt sie sich mit der Strumpfindustrie im Erzgebirge und der Auswanderung nach Nordamerika auseinander. Das Ausstellungsprojekt wird bis zum 1. Advent zu sehen sein. Außerdem wird sie in Kooperation mit der diesjährigen POCHEN Biennale „Ex Oriente Ignis“ über ihre künstlerische Recherche sprechen.
ost in space widmet sich 2024 Thalheims Auswanderungsgeschichte(n). Dabei wird untersucht, wie regionale Traditionen bewahrt, transformiert und exportiert wurden.

Das Ausstellungsprojekt ost in space MACHT EUCH AUF DIE SOCKEN / Timeless Movement in Socks wird vom Landesverband Bildende Kunst Sachsen e.V. und „Partnerschaft für Demokratie am Eisenweg“ gefördert.
Gefördert durch das Sächsische Staatsministerium für Wissenschaft, Kultur und Tourismus. Diese Maßnahme wird mitfinanziert durch Steuermittel auf der Grundlage des vom Sächsischen Landtag beschlossenen Haushaltes.

ost in space ist ein künstlerisches Forschungsprogramm im sächsischen Erzgebirge, einer Region, welche durch ihre Bergbaugeschichte, Industriekultur, Religion und besondere Traditionen geprägt ist. Das Erzgebirge stellt einen einzigartigen Ausgangspunkt dar, um Geschichte(n) und Verbindungen zwischen Deutschland und der Welt zu erkunden, hidden histories aufzudecken und die Region aus neuen anderen Perspektiven kennenzulernen.
Das Erzgebirge birgt ein immenses Wissen in sich, das sich gerade über Gegenwartskunst sehr gut über alle Grenzen hinweg vermitteln lässt. Mit ost in space möchten wir ein Netzwerk schaffen, das vom ländlichen Raum bis in die Stadt und international reicht.
Die künstlerische Leitung von ost in space haben Sandy Becker und Beatrice Moumdjian.
ost in space ist eine Kooperation von Beatrice Moumdjian und Sandy Becker mit dem ASA-FF e.V., begleitet im Rahmen des Programms neue unentd_ckte narrative 2025. Das Programm neue unentd_ckte narrative 2025 wird gefördert durch das Bundesprogramm “Demokratie leben!”, Weltoffenes Sachsen und mitfinanziert durch den Kulturraum der Stadt Chemnitz.

Shop window exhibition and artist talk with sound artist Anna Schimkat as part of ost in space and in cooperation with the POCHEN Biennale.
As part of the ost in space project, the artist Anna Schimkat, in collaboration with the Heimatkundlicher Verein Thalheim, will develop her sound-art research project “MACHT EUCH AUF DIE SOCKEN / Timeless Movement in Socks” as a shop window exhibition in Thalheim. In it, she deals with the sock industry in the Ore Mountains and emigration to North America. The exhibition project will be on display until the first Sunday of Advent. She will also be talking about her artistic research in cooperation with this year's POCHEN Biennale “Ex Oriente Ignis”.
ost in space is dedicated to Thalheim's emigration story(ies) in 2024. It examines how regional traditions have been preserved, transformed and exported.

ost in space is an artistic research program in the Saxonian Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge), a narrow region in eastern Germany on the border with the Czech Republic. It is characterized by its mining history, industrial culture and unique traditions. It represents an original starting point to explore the history(s) and connections between Germany and the world, uncover hidden histories and get to know the region from different perspectives.
The Erzgebirge holds immense knowledge that can be communicated excellently across all boundaries, especially through contemporary art. With ost in space we want to create a network that reaches outwards the rural area towards the city and internationally.
The artistic directors of ost in space are Sandy Becker and Beatrice Moumdjian.
